Quick Ways To Make Money From Home

1. Virtual Assistant (VA)

Cost to start: $19.95 for training

Virtual assistants are needed for just about anything you can think of a business needing help with. You are their personal assistant, but the tasks you do will be carried out virtually – online that is, through your computer.

Most small businesses need help dealing with the various functions of their business. Sometimes a small business is run by one person and that one person can’t do every task that pertains to their business. So, he/she will outsource some of the work. This means they will find someone who can lighten their workload and complete some of these different tasks.

There are so many types of virtual assistant services you could offer. A few that come to mind are social media management, Pinterest management, email marketing, customer service, website management, marketing, creating ads, editing videos, blog posts, ebooks, web design, SEO and so much more.

If you want to learn how to build a successful Virtual Assistant business, I highly suggest you read this book on Amazon: Become A Successful Virtual Assistant. It will teach you everything you need to know about starting your own successful, money making VA business.

Here are some websites that you can offer your services on or look for VA work:

2. Freelancer

Cost to start: Free to Cost of Training

As a freelancer, you are self employed selling specialized services to clients.

The first thing you should do when you’re considering this type of side hustle is to think of a skillset that you have or a subject matter that you’re particularly knowledgeable about.

Do a simple Google search to determine if it’s a service that other people are already paying money for. If you see other people in this niche selling your desired service, don’t worry. This is just confirmation that you have chosen a freelance service that has the potential to be profitable for you.

Fiverr gives you a platform to post those services; however you don’t have to stop there. You could create a full on side business out of it. Create a website, get business cards made up and market yourself. allows you to find jobs to complete. It’s an online job marketplace for freelancers.

Louie of Finances Online gives you a list of 20 websites that offer freelance services.

3. Start a Blog

Cost to start: $75 – $165+ for training

If you are passionate about a particular topic and you just cannot stop talking about it, consider starting a blog to share your insight. A blog is a website where you write articles (or posts). Then, you promote those blog posts on different mediums to drive traffic to your website.

The 5 most common ways people earn money through blogging are:

  1. Affiliate marketing – promoting other peoples’ products
  2. Sponsored posts – writing paid articles for brands
  3. Ads – placing ads on your site through ad networks like Google AdSense, Mediavine and Monumetric
  4. Creating your own products – courses, ebooks, digital downloads etc.
  5. Selling services – consulting, coaching, speaking etc.

Michelle Schroedner-Gardner from Making Sense Of Sense has been steadily bringing in over 6 figures per month consistently. And she’s not the only one making good money off of a blog either. Suzi from Start A Mom Blog brings in over $40,000 per month and has even brought her husband home from his corporate job.

3 Essential Tools You Need To Start A Blog

If you want a money making blog, the first thing you need to do is buy hosting for your blog. The best way I’ve heard hosting defined is it’s what takes your blog online to be seen by the world.

Once you have an idea on what you want to write about, you can then start to brainstorm names for your blog.

If you purchase your hosting with Bluehost, you’ll get your domain (website address) for free. Hosting with Bluehost costs you as little as $4 per month. A hosted website gives you full ownership of your website and your website will read ‘’ instead of something like ‘’ or ‘’

Email Service Provider

After you’ve got your hosting set up, you should then start collecting emails because later on, this will be the audience you sell to. I use ConvertKit which is $29/month for the lowest tier. ConvertKit has a lot of advanced features that make your life easier as you build your email list. They always offer free workshops that help you grow your business whether you have their service or not.

Mailerlite is a free email marketing service provider that allows you to use their platform at no cost up to your first 1,000 subscribers, but there’s a limit on how many emails you can send each month. However, this is a great option if you’re being conservative starting your blogging business.

Course (Education)

Alex and Lauren of Create and Go run two successful blogs that earn them well over $100,000 each month. They have tons of Youtube videos that give so much valuable information to help you get your blogging journey off on a great start.

Because of how thorough their free YouTube videos are and how helpful they were in explaining the blogging world to a complete beginner like me, I invested in their courses. It was the best decision for my blog and me because it took away the anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed in starting a blog as a newbie.

If you’re ready to learn how to build your own blog, first purchase your hosting and email marketing service provider then enroll in Create and Go’s course to get in depth step by step videos of how to launch a successful money making blog with their Build and Launch Your Blog Course. At the time of this writing, it is only $97 which is a small price to pay for the great income possibilities with blogging.

The best value is their pro-blogger bundle which gives you access to all 4 of their courses. Their 4 courses take you on a journey from starting and launching your blog, to making money with your blog, to generating traffic to your blog to creating a successful product to sell to your audience.

They literally show you the exact steps they’ve taken to grow their blogging business to a 7 figure business (million dollar blogging business). If you want to be like the best, you have to learn from the best.

4. Delivery Driver

Cost to start: Free

Why not make your car work for you by becoming a delivery driver? These side hustles allow you to make money on your own time. They offer you flexibility AND give you a good tax write off at the end of the year.

  • GrubHub – Yet another food delivery company

5. House Cleaner

Cost to start: as little as $20-$50

This is one of the easiest side hustles you could start today. It’s perfect if you’re a natural at maintaining a clean space and you enjoy cleaning. Believe it or not, not everybody can clean a house very well. Nor do some people have the time to clean their home like they would like.

Not only can your business cater to residential homes, but you can also market your services to businesses. This will allow you to build long standing relationships that give you steady income. The best part is that you could have as many contracts as your time allows cleaning for multiple residents or businesses for steady income.

The overhead cost is fairly low when starting a cleaning business.. All you really need is supplies for a cleaning kit and business cards. You can start with cleaning supplies from Dollar Tree and continue to build your kit as your income grows. Vistaprint frequently does deals on their business cards where you can get 500 designed business cards for $10.

It might be wise to take some before and after pictures of your own home and the homes of family and friends while you build your portfolio of testimonials.

Promote your business any and everywhere. Leave business cards at all the places you like to frequent, especially high traffic businesses. You could also market your business on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist.

6. Tutor

Cost to start: Free

Is there a subject that you know well enough to help someone else learn about? Consider offering tutoring services to students. I know I could’ve used a tutor in chemistry and physics in high school AND college.

Alongside tutoring kids in person, you could also tutor English to kids that live in China. Here are 3 companies that allow you to do this:

  • Magic Ears teachers can earn $22-$26/hr.
  • Education First allows you to earn between $13-$16/hr, but also offers supplemental fees helping you earn even more.
  • VIPKid is one of the most popular platforms that allows you to earn up to $22/hr.

7. Dog/Animal Services

Cost to start: Free to cost of grooming supplies

If you have a love for animals, consider turning that passion into money. Dog walking and pet sitting are two services you could offer. Rover provides a platform for you to advertise your services.

The best thing about Rover is they have an established customer base that use their website for services.

I’ve used Rover in the past to hire a dog sitter and it was a smooth process.

You could also start a pet grooming side hustle. Think about how many people take their animals to PetSmart and other grooming businesses because they simply don’t want to do the grooming themselves. People will pay for convenience.

8. Babysitter

Cost to start: Free

Just like people need their animals taken care of, they also need their kids looked after. If you have the patience for kids, you could offer babysitting services on the side.

Typically, babysitting can take place at your home or the client’s home. The preference lies in the individual seeking services.

You can use websites like and SitterCity to post your services.

9. Personal Shopper

Cost to start: $13.99 for an insulated bag

In your spare time, you could use a skill that most people have and grocery shop for other people. Typically, all that is required is a means of transportation and a smartphone.

Instacart and Shipt are both mobile platforms that allow you to get paid to be someone’s personal shopper.

You are paid per delivery and you can choose to accept or decline any delivery request received.

10. Be a Handy Person

If you are more of a hands on person who enjoys fixing things and putting things together, then you can do handy work on the side.

Handy requires you to have some paid experience with cleaning or handyman services, but you can earn up to $22-$45 per hour.

Task Rabbit gives you the opportunity to complete handyman work, cleaning services, delivery, help with moving, furniture assembly as well as personal assistant services.

11. Rideshare Driver

Cost to start: Free

This side hustle is great for people who are sociable and like conversation. Essentially, you’re like a taxi driver, but on a higher end.

Uber and Lyft are the 2 most popular rideshare platforms.

They have driver apps associated with them and once you’re online within the apps, ride requests pop up. Before you even accept the ride, you know how much money you’re going to make from that ride and the distance it takes to get there.

They even provide you with a GPS within the app to make it easier for you to get to the address without issue. You don’t have to leave the app to access your phone’s installed GPS.

12. T-Shirt Designer

Selling T-Shirts is another good side hustle to embark on. There are a few different ways that you can sell custom designed T-Shirts.

Making Money Designing Shirts

Cost to start: Free

If you would prefer to do the dropshipping method, you could sell T-shirts via print on demand on Printful’s platform. What this means is you’ll first design the shirts on Printful and choose the desired sizes, style etc. Then, using a quick process, you’ll connect your Printful account to Etsy then upload your designs. Etsy has a customer base of over 30 million people

Dropshipping Print on Demand for Etsy

  8. The customer is given a tracking number

Cost to start: Free

Printify is similar to Printful in that products on your store’s site is dropshipped to the customer. Again, dropshipping is simply designing a product using a print on demand website like Printify, then uploading that product to your store’s site.
When a customer purchases that product, Printify prints and ships the product to the customer.

No physical products require you to produce or store them. However, you can order a sample product to your home to evaluate the quality of the product.

Your biggest job is to create kick butt, unique design that screams “BUY ME” and promote your listing.

Cutting Machine and Heat Press

You can use a cutting machine to cut designs for T-Shirts. Cricut and Silhouette are two of the popular cutting machine manufacturers.

Both machines come with its own design software. After you create your design within their software, you’ll cut it with heat transfer vinyl, then use an iron or heat press to place the design on the T-Shirt.

You could then sell the T-shirts on an eCommerce site like Etsy, Shopify or Poshmark. Also, you could advertise the T-shirts locally by attending local vendor events or flea markets.

13. Turn Your Hobby into a Business

Cost to start: $100 or less

If people are always telling you how crafty you are, chances are you’re very good with crafting. Perhaps, you’re so good at it that people would be willing to pay you for it.

Here’s a list of some crafts that you could turn into a side business:

  • Candles
  • Birthday Outfits
  • Baked Goods
  • Party/Wedding Invitations
  • Quilts
  • Clothing & Accessories
  • Decor

There are so many other crafts that meet the needs of people. What you have to do is sit down and really think about what you enjoy doing in your free time and come up with a way to turn it into cash flow for you.

14. Become a Reseller

Cost to start: $100 or less

Reselling is simply flipping items to make a profit. The goal is to buy items at a low cost, then sell them for higher cost and pocket the profit.

People will literally buy anything if they think they’re getting a good deal. And when you buy low, you’re able to give them that deal.

You can start a reselling side hustle simply by looking around your house and selling things that you no longer need or use. The money you make from that, you turn around and do the same thing – buy even more items at a low cost and resell for profit.

Some places you can use to find your items to sell is thrift stores, flea markets, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Offerup, Letgo, and yard sales.

The platforms below give you a space to list your items on. You could also use the platforms to source some low cost items. People who are not actually in the reselling business and will sell their items low just to get rid of them.

Cost to start: Free to cost of supplies

Video is all the rave right now. There are some high income YouTuber’s living well off of creating videos who make millions upon millions of dollars each year.

All it takes is consistency and knowledge about video marketing. Make videos people want to see. There are numerous channels dedicated to teaching you how to become a Youtuber. One Youtuber I like to follow for tips is Sunny Lenarduzzi.

And YouTube isn’t just for people who like being on camera either. If you are weary about showing your face to thousands or millions of people, you can create faceless videos.

One YouTuber who does this well is Justin Bryant. His videos consist of slide presentations and screen shares. There are also gamers who don’t show their face, people who are Erin Condren planners or the like and so many more.

16. Take Online Surveys

Cost to start: Free

Surveys are a great way to earn money on the side because you can literally do them from anywhere. There’s no cost to start making money with them. And, some survey sites even offer you a welcome bonus that you receive after you complete your first survey.

To earn steady cash with survey sites, set aside a few hours each day to devote to taking surveys. You could do a survey or two while you’re in the bathroom, while you’re riding through town as a passenger, when you’re waiting in the grocery checkout line etc. Carve out small blocks of time to complete surveys.

The best part about the survey sites is they offer more ways to make money rather than just surveys alone. Many allow you to watch ads, download and try games, watch movie trailers etc.

17. Rent Out Your Car Out

How it works is a listing of your car is created providing details and photos, then an availability calendar is devised.

Whenever someone requests to book your car or books it instantly, you’ll receive a notification. You’ll have to confirm or decline the booking.

After confirming, you and the renter will coordinate a meet time to conduct the walk around, check gas and mileage etc. Once the booking duration is complete, another meeting with the renter is required so that you can pick up your car.

Turo covers your vehicle with liability insurance up to $1 million.

Renting out either your entire home or a designated space in your home is a great way to make extra money. People travel all the time and always need accommodations.

Some travelers only want to book through a homeshare site because often times, it’s an affordable option that is personable. It gives that sense of a home away from home.

If you live close to a tourist town, you have the perfect location to market to travelers. Maybe you live close to a town that hosts a yearly local festival or college week that you can capitalize off of. Sometimes hotels tend to sell out of rooms during popular events. This can be a great time to market to travelers who new to homesharing.

If they do, a list of available movers in close proximity will appear in their results.

The services you could provide are packing, unpacking, loading, unloading and cleaning.

It is free to join the Moving Helper marketplace and you can set your own rates and availability.
